About Kendall
An unincorporated community, Kendall is an expansive suburban neighborhood in south west Miami-Dade County. Home to universities, an airport, bustling neighborhoods and plenty of entertainment venues, the community is inhabited by 75,226 residents (according to the 2000 census).Among Kendall’s many attractive features is its claim to two colleges. Miami-Dade College’s (MDC) main campus is located in Kendall. The university offers not only collegiate courses, but also offers vocational and adult-education programs to the community, making it a very popular destination for educational pursuits. Kendall is also home to Florida International University (FIU), which opened in 1972 as Miami-Dade County’s first public, four-year university.
Kendall also boasts numerous entertainment options. Just travel down Kendall Drive and find movie theaters, popular restaurants, expansive shopping plazas, and a bustling nightlife thanks to the neighborhood bars. One of the area’s most popular entertainment hot-spots is the Town and Country plaza, which features a cinema, shops and restaurants.
